Making Wear It Pink Day 2024 More Vibrant with Makeup

Ever thought about how a dash of pink could spark a conversation? Wear It Pink Day is all about that—using the power of pink to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

On Friday, October 18th, 2024, people across the UK will don their best pink outfits, accessories, and yes, makeup, to stand in solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

A Brief History of Where it Pink Day

Wear It Pink Day started in 2002 as a simple idea: wear something pink and donate whatever you can. Fast forward to today, and it’s one of the biggest fundraising events in the UK. Schools, offices, and communities join hands to support Breast Cancer Now, aiming to make life-changing research happen.

Why It Matters to Me

Wear it pink dayI’m not just talking about a cause – I’m talking about friends who’ve faced the toughest battles of their lives. Watching them fight cancer showed me how vital support and awareness really are. That’s why I’m all in for making Wear It Pink Day not just meaningful but also vibrant—with makeup that speaks volumes.

Why Makeup Matters On Wear It Pink Day

Makeup isn’t just about looks; it’s a form of expression. So, let’s use it to amplify the message. From bold pink eyeshadows to subtle blush tones, every shade can be a conversation starter. And trust me, those conversations matter. Plus, it’s a fun way to get creative and feel connected to a bigger cause.

Creating The Perfect Pink Makeup Look

Ready to rock a pink makeup moment? Today I worked on my client Seyhan who was going to a special event and below I explain how.

1 – Start with the Eyes

  • Pink Eye Makeup: Use a soft pink eyeshadow to make your eyes pop. Shades like magenta or cool pink can complement any eye colour.
  • Eyeliner Magic: A touch of burgundy eyeliner adds depth and makes your eyes stand out.
  • Shadow Play: Blend lighter pinks towards the inner eye and brighter pinks on the outer corners.

2 – Blush Up Those Cheeks

  • Bright Pink Blush: Sweep it over your cheekbones for a glowy makeup look.
  • Brighter Pink Blush: For deeper skin tones, a brighter pink can make your cheeks shine.
  • Blend Well: Use a powder or satin finish to blend the colour seamlessly into your skin tone.

3 -Lips That Speak Volumes

  • Bold Pink Lipstick: Go big with a bright pink or keep it subtle with a nude pink lipstick.
  • Semi-Sheer Options: If bold isn’t your thing, a semi-sheer pink lipstick offers a softer touch.
  • Lip Gloss Finish: Add some lip gloss for extra shine and fullness.

4 – Finishing Touches

  • Highlight and Shine: Dab some shimmer on the high points of your face.
  • Complementary Colours: Mix in warmer colours like coral or peach to balance the pink hues.

The Finishing Line – A Soft and Natural Makeup Look for Wear It Pink Day

As you can see in the transition below from start to finish, this fresh and natural makeup look perfectly complements the Wear It Pink Day theme. I start with a moisturizing primer then a light, dewy foundation to create an even, glowing complexion with soft pink cream blush to add a healthy flush to the cheeks with a cream highlighter tying in seamlessly with the event’s colour scheme.  Followed by the  eyes that are kept subtle with minimal prune colour pencil eyeliner, 3 shades of pink eyeshadow with a hint of light sparkly gold and mascara, enhancing natural beauty without being too bold.

Then gently shaping and filling in the brows to frame the face in a soft, polished way with an eyebrow pen liner and a gel to keep the brows in shape.

The standout feature is the lips, where a vibrant yet elegant pink lipstick and gloss give just the right pop of colour to complete the look. This effortless, radiant style transitions beautifully from the bare face to a polished finish, perfect for celebrating Wear It Pink Day with confidence and elegance at any age.

Dressing to Match Your Pink Makeup

Pair your makeup with the right outfit to complete the look.

  • All-Pink Ensemble: Wear a pink dress to fully embrace the theme.
  • Mix and Match: Use complementary colours to make your pink makeup stand out.
